What's new is GNU!

As of 23 March 2004, combine is a GNU package. In short order, we expect it to
be fully hosted for web pages, ftp, and cvs on the gnu.org servers, and to have
official mailing lists like bug-combine@gnu.org.

The other recent changes can be summarazed under the categories of portability,
cleanup, and performance.

Portability and cleanup go hand in hand. Many warnings from the compiler have
been eliminated, and potential problems of an unannounced error in writing to
stdout have been cleaned up, thanks to Jim Meyering of coreutils fame.

An additional type of hash function has been added that appears to work well
over longer arbitrary text keys.
